Permits:
For those of you who hunt in New York City, here is the link to get your yearly detecting permit: https://www.nycgovparks.org/permits/metal-detector
Even if you don’t regularly hunt in these areas, if you live within driving distance it’s a good idea to get one (they’re free), because you never know when an opportunity might present itself.
Note: Don’t throw your old permit away, because they ask for the old one each year when you reapply.
Coin Cleaning:
Excellent site for information on cleaning coins:

Disclaimer: Don’t clean your coins. I assume no responsibility for any of the information posted there, or for anything you do to your coins. The above link is for informational purposes only.
Upcoming Event Info:
For those of you who missed it, I update the hunt & events section of my website about every six months or so. Follow this link to see what’s going on, and remember some of these hunts are invitational or members only, and typographical errors are known to happen, so please investigate times, dates, membership requirements, etc… Ahead of time.
THE CAMP ISOLA BELLA EAGLE:
The Yankee Territory Coinshooters had a hunt at Camp Isola Bella in CT, which was organized by one of our club members (Thank you Jeff). At the end of the day I hadn’t done really well for myself, finding only some clad and what appeared to be a Fatty Indian.
When I got home, I threw my finds into a plastic baggie, stuck them in box and forgot about them.
A few weeks later, I was going through some of my “treasure”, and decided to remove the caked on dirt from the Indian Head. As the dirt came off, something looked off, so I got out the magnifying glass for a closer look.
It wasn’t an Indian Head, it was a Flying Eagle! It’s condition was unimportant, because it was my first Flying Eagle, and also one of the items I still had left on my bucket list–AWESOME.
HAPPY HUNTING!
Thanks for the nyc permit Info!
You’re welcome!
Very nice Flying Eagle cent! Still on my bucket list after 5 years of detecting. Your blogs are very well written and entertaining as well! Keep up the good work! HH.
You just never know what you’re going to find! Glad you like the site. Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Hunting!
Yay! Congrats! A flying eagle is on my bucket list no matter what condition!
Yes, condition is unimportant if it’s on the bucket list!
