Recent Treasures…

Posted on January 5, 2014 By Detecting Diva 8 Comments on Recent Treasures…

I was going through my collection of recently found treasure, (I’m using the word treasure very lightly here), and decided I would share some of these beauties with you all….enjoy!

Injun.JPG

Quite a nice little duo found about 6″ from each other, (another reminder to re-check that hole). It appears Tonto got sliced in half and the Lone Ranger lost a foot in the skirmish, but they have great detail and the paint is still intact. I’m sure they’ll look much better after some cleaning.

This piece of thin metal almost got tossed, but a closer inspection with the granny glasses revealed the words “coin silver”. I assume it to be part of an old pocket watch. Found it at a nearby cellar hole I suspect to be a virgin site, and hope to get back to sometime.

Found this silver ring at the beach, it’s condition was pretty bad, and it had a funny tone, so I expected pot metal, but nope, its 925.

finds.JPGThe 1775 KG on the bottom right has a lot of detail underneath the crud, but most coins I’ve found at that site clean up real well, have to wait and see on that one.

This collection of treasure is obviously a very valuable one that the owners are still searching for. Finders Keepers–sorry folks.

These items kinda wanta make me hunt this site some more…not.image
Perhaps they are parts to a musical instrument, or some type of complicated 19th century cookware?

imageOr maybe they go with my next great find from the site…

the Piano Forte emblem?

This next great collection is titled:

“How many oxen does it take to keep a detectorist busy for hours?”

Seriously.

Make sure to mark your calendars for the dinner party at my house next Sunday. Period attire required, and be sure to arrive early for best flatware selection. Don’t forget to take one of these fab party favors on your way out—>

And…It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the reason folks had such large families back in the day wasn’t due to lack of effective birth control.  It’s obvious, by the amount of broken shoe buckles and lost suspender parts I’ve been finding that it was because they were always walking around barefoot with their pants around their ankles.  Just sayin’.

For my final, great recent find–let’s just hope the Conley’s dog was not still attached to this collar when they lost it…

Great Finds! We were talking at our club meeting today about how the folks on the Northeast can find some really cool stuff that just isn’t in the midwest. I will travel that way and find a King George!

      Steve-
And I was thinking about all the great things I could find in the midwest–grass always seems greener someplace else 🙂
Love your blog by the way–Happy Hunting!

Thx-glad you liked it. Looks like the weather is on temporary warm up. Might be time to stop acting like grandma and hit the beaches again.

I still need to dig through a few boxes in the garage (if I can find them). Have a feeling there might be a few overlooked gems I overlooked as well. Won’t be for a few days however…..too damn cold out there..

      Great idea Dick!
Put on your ski parka, knit cap, gloves, scarf, flannel lined jeans & wool socks and walk the 30 feet to the garage.
Would love to see a post from you containing a plethora of whazits, wtf’s and whatchamacalits–maybe and “identify me” contest on your blog?

Actually its 46 degrees and overcast. Nice and warm compared to the past few weeks–snow all melted! But tonight is another story, predictions of wind chills, frostbite warnings–I hate winter.
