With the exception of my dog going into a confused panic, after getting sprayed in the face by a skunk last night, I had an awesome week!
It was one of those kinds of weeks where everything is just going right in your life. New friends, new job, new opportunities–life is good.
When it comes to finding those elusive and coveted cellar holes, apparently there is some formula to it that folks like myself, just aren’t privy to. Oh, and you can forget about asking Todd Hiltz & Dave Wise, their lips are pretty much closed on the subject. But, even if they told me, I wouldn’t go running my mouth off about it anyway.
I don’t blame them for keeping their methods to themselves. They spend countless hours researching to find old home sites and colonial settlements, and they deserve to reap the rewards that come from it.
Got home a little while ago from the Outhouse Orchards hunt, in Croton Falls, NY, hosted by the Nor’easters Metal Detecting Club, out of Stamford, CT.
I hadn’t planned on going to the hunt, as I’ve hunted there a few times in the past, but while drinking my morning coffee, I looked outside around 8:30 am and thought, what the heck–The hunt starts at 9am, It was a nice day. And the Orchard was a mere 10 miles away.
